Chronic illness is difficult for the individuals sustaining the illness, and it's also hard for that person's loved ones. If you or someone you love is living with a chronic illness, you may benefit from extra assistance provided by an in-home caregiver. Austin Caregivers is available to provide support for family caregivers, or to provide full-time care for clients who live independently.
Our clients with chronic illness are often living with:
- Congestive heart failure
- Effects of a stroke
- COPD
- Diabetes
- Parkinson's
- Multiple Sclerosis
- Neurological diseases
- Cancer
Assisting Family Caregivers: When the responsibility of taking care of a chronically ill individual falls on one family member, that family member can quickly reach a burnout point. That's where we step in. We'll provide a high level of care for your loved one so that you have time to take care of yourself. Many family caregivers have guilt about taking time for themselves; however, it's proven that this restorative time is necessary to be there for your chronically ill loved one.
Personal Care: We can assist with a wide range of personal care, including personal hygiene, dressing, cooking and eating, and more. Our personal care services cover everything you need to get ready for the day. We also review your needs often so that we're only helping in areas where we're needed, and so we can increase the range of care if necessary.
Companionship: Chronically ill individuals sometimes feel cut off from the world. Chronic illness may make it difficult to leave home or to have the energy to entertain. Our caregivers understand and provide emotional support for these clients.
Independence: Just as family caregivers need time to themselves, chronically ill individuals may also need a break from their caregivers. Working with an outside caregiver often provides these clients with a sense of independence and balance.
